SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY

As believers we have been given a mandate to care for each other and for those around us.

This is an outflowing of God's abundant love & grace poured out in our lives. We have been given freely and we therefore give freely without prejudice towards others.

“Having gifts that differ according to the grace given to us, let us use them: if prophecy, in proportion to our faith; if service, in our serving; the one who teaches, in his teaching; the one who exhorts, in his exhortation; the one who contributes, in generosity; the one who leads, with zeal; the one who does acts of mercy, with cheerfulness.”

Romans 12: 6-8

LOCAL COMMUNITY PROJECTS

There are a vast variety of social issues in our communities and the need is huge. We cannot be everything to everybody however, and have therefore chosen three local community projects to formally support as Every Nation Helderberg:

Themba Training, Mama Themba & Zola Teen Ministry

We encourage our church community to become involved in these by giving of their time and  resources, and in doing so use these opportunities to fulfill our mandate to be ministers of reconciliation, hope, salt and light.

Themba Training

"At Themba Training we serve our local impoverished communities of the Helderberg with hope, dignity & empowerment through our practical skills training opportunities."

We do this by building bridges between the "have's" and the "have not's" of our community and provide a safe place for people of different backgrounds to interact with each other: sharing care, time, knowledge and material resources.

Mama Themba

"Mama Themba serves vulnerable mothers & their newborn babies of our under-resourced health systems for the first 1000 days of their lives."

A team of volunteers & peer counselors offers mothers essential antenatal, breastfeeding and postnatal education & support in 3 local hospitals.

Zola Teens

"Our congregation in Zola serves the teens in their community with personal hygiene and other necessities so that these teens may participate in educational and spiritual activities with dignity and freedom that comes from having their basic needs met."

Lito serves as a full-time missionary and student leader in six different schools around the Zola community. We further get to partner with him as a church through a monthly honorarium for his work.
